Cricket is most played game not just in India but also in Asia and its fans are present throughout the world. At present, every match is being broadcast on television, but watching matches in cricket stadium is a different fun. In this article, we are describing world's 10 largest cricket stadiums based on viewer capacity.

1. Melbourne Cricket Ground

Located: Melbourne, Australia 
Built: 1853 
Spectator Capacity: 1, 00,024


The Melbourne Cricket Ground, located in Melbourne, Australia, is the world's biggest cricket stadium with its 1, 00,024 viewer’s capacity. The first cricket test Match was played at this stadium on 15th to 19th March, 1877.


2. Eden Gardens


 Located: Kolkata, India
Built: 1864
Spectator Capacity: 66,349


Eden Gardens is also known as the "Mecca of Indian cricket" and it is India's most popular and largest cricket stadium. The first cricket match was organized at this stadium between India and England as a Test match on 5th to 8th January, 1934.


3. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium

Located: Raipur, Chhattisgarh 
Built: 2008
Spectator Capacity: 65,000

India's former Cricket Captain Sunil Gavaskar has described this stadium as one of the best stadiums in the world. The first cricket match at this stadium was played in 2010 as a practice match between National cricket team of Canada and Chhattisgarh Ranji team. There is no international cricket match played in this stadium yet.


4. Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium

Located: Hyderabad, India 
Built: 2003
 Spectator Capacity: 60,000


The first cricket match was held in this stadium on 12th to 16th November, 2010 between India and New Zealand as a Test match. This stadium is the home ground of IPL team Sunrise Hyderabad.


 5. Greenfield International Stadium

Located: Trivandrum,
Built: 2014 
Spectator Capacity: 55,000



India Located in Trivandrum (Kerala), in this stadium football matches are also organized in addition to cricket. In this stadium first cricket match was held between India and New Zealand on 7th November, 2017 as a T20 match.


6. Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium

 Located: Kochi, India
 Built: 1996
 Spectator Capacity: 55,000



Located in Kochi, Kerala, this stadium is used for conducting football matches besides cricket. The first cricket match played in this stadium between India and Australia at 1st April 1998, as ODI match.


7. DY Patil Sports Stadium

Located: Navi Mumbai, India
Built: 2008
 Spectator Capacity: 55,000



Located in Navi Mumbai, this stadium is also used for organizing football matches along with cricket. There is no international cricket match played in this stadium yet. The final matches of IPL 2008 and 2010 was held at this stadium.


8. Adelaide Oval

Located: Adelaide, Australia
 Built: 1871
 Spectator Capacity: 53,583



Due to its oval shape, this stadium is called Oval. The first cricket match at this stadium was played between Australia and England as a Test match on 12th to 16th December, 1884.


 9. Ekana International Cricket Stadium

 Location: Lucknow, India
Built: 2017
Spectator Capacity: 50,000



Not a single international cricket match has been organized so far in this stadium. The first cricket match held at this stadium was league match of Dilip Trophy 2017-18.

10. Docklands Stadium

Location: Melbourne, Australia
 Built: 2000
 Spectator Capacity: 47,000



Located in Melbourne, at Docklands Stadium apart from cricket, other sports are also organized. The first cricket match at this stadium was held between Australia and South Africa on 16th August, 2000 as ODI match.
